I congratulate the fan for saying what he did to Ireland's face, calling into a radio station and owning up to it. To me it shows that Ireland knows he may very well be under more pressure than he has ever been up to this point and also knows he is in danger of losing his job.
Otherwise I think he would have smirked or laughed and walked away.
Sorry FF33, I have to disagree with you this time. The fan did a horrible job of expressing what we all feel. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about it, and this fan just made us all look bad. Now everybody thinks we're a bunch of moronic mouth-breathers and Ireland has actually become a sympathetic figure

This only hurts our cause.
What alarms me the most about this is how many fans actually posed with him, got his autograph, were nice to him, etc. Seems to me there are still far too many sheeple around who actually think he's done a good job, and that's unacceptable.
You don't have to agree. I just think most fans would have shaken his hand and posed for a picture with him etc etc and then started bashing him once he walked away. I am glad we have some fans who aren't afraid to express their opinions to Ireland's face.
Also, it isn't like all he said to Jeff was "you should fire yourself". According to other fans that were there, this fan started off by telling Ireland what he thought were issues with the team (hopefully one of those issues was abysmal drafting) and ended it with "you should fire yourself".
Should he have left off the last part? Maybe
But I agree with him for at least having the balls to express his opinion face to face with Ireland instead of just being another one of the "sheeple".
BTW, I think JL should track this fan down and offer him one of our rare and coveted FREE lifetime memberships to this site.
