I congratulate the fan for saying what he did to Ireland's face, calling into a radio station and owning up to it. To me it shows that Ireland knows he may very well be under more pressure than he has ever been up to this point and also knows he is in danger of losing his job.

Otherwise I think he would have smirked or laughed and walked away.

Sorry FF33, I have to disagree with you this time. The fan did a horrible job of expressing what we all feel. There's a right way and a wrong way to go about it, and this fan just made us all look bad. Now everybody thinks we're a bunch of moronic mouth-breathers and Ireland has actually become a sympathetic figure  This only hurts our cause.

What alarms me the most about this is how many fans actually posed with him, got his autograph, were nice to him, etc. Seems to me there are still far too many sheeple around who actually think he's done a good job, and that's unacceptable.

If I was Ross I would fire ireland for cursing at a paying customer. Ireland is a part of the Dolphins and represents the team on and off the field. Regardless of what was said Ireland needed to refrain from cursing at a fan.

Problem is, any of us probably would've done the same thing. Ireland is human. And it's not as if he let fly a nonstop string of expletives in the guy's face, he just muttered one word while walking away.

Nope, Ireland comes off as actually being in the right here, and that's not good for us :(

Although in today's ridiculous world I can totally see Ross letting all the horrible drafts and FA signings slide, but seeing cursing in public as the last straw

Then again I hear Peterson is quite the asshole and Ross is best buds with him, so...

You don't have to agree. I just think most fans would have shaken his hand and posed for a picture with him etc etc and then started bashing him once he walked away. I am glad we have some fans who aren't afraid to express their opinions to Ireland's face.

Also, it isn't like all he said to Jeff was "you should fire yourself". According to other fans that were there, this fan started off by telling Ireland what he thought were issues with the team (hopefully one of those issues was abysmal drafting) and ended it with "you should fire yourself".

Should he have left off the last part? Maybe

But I agree with him for at least having the balls to express his opinion face to face with Ireland instead of just being another one of the "sheeple".

BTW, I think JL should track this fan down and offer him one of our rare and coveted FREE lifetime memberships to this site.

I would have preferred some pointed questions like this:

1. We've invested so many draft picks and money towards the offensive line, why is it still so thin?
2. Are you happy with the talent in our receiving corps right now?
3. How do you feel your draft classes match up with the rest of the division?
4. Most of our free agents this year did not pan out, how do you plan to improve that?

5. Why don't you fire yourself. Seriously, if these are the 4 questions you ask him, why isn't the 5th a natural reaction? I give the fan credit for saying it, I certainly don't condemn Fireland for saying asshole----I would have too, but clearly, there is an argument for the fans remark. :hitfan:

I don't even have an issue with what Ireland said. Yes it was unprofessional but I think most people being criticized like he was would have said something similar.

It is really astounding the lack of ex-cowgirls that fieland has brought in this year. You just KNOW ross must have told him, enough with these loser-has beens/never were's.

No other explanation for it.

Funny how this is really the first year he hasn't brought Ex-Cowgirls over.. and Sparano is gone. CRAZY.
