The only thing that would make that picture better is if Philbin or, dare I say it, Ross was holding that sign. LoL

As I pointed out yesterday, only once in Fins history have they given up more passing yards in a win.

This is going to be a problem all season, especially if Marshall can't return against the Jets.

If anything, we actually kind of won this "Sparano hulk-smash style".

Gobs of yards and scoring on the ground with Bush and Miller. Even Tanny ran one in.

Solid special teams effort, again. Quickly becoming my favorite team unit.

Totally shut down the Raiders run game.

Passing game? We looked anemic at times, and pedestrian at our best. Short, efficient passes. We kept control of the ball with no turnovers.

The Raiders meanwhile posted TONS of yardage and authored a number of big plays. Our defense played well enough to survive them, and limited the damage to a meager point total.

This is EXACTLY the recipe we used under Sparano - he would be THRILLED with this win. Philbin is not thrilled. Still clearly a team in transition, we are just not good at passing or defending the pass. We probably don't have the talent to do so this year.

White1, they won Sparano-style because that's the way Ireland built this team--including this year when he drafted another RB and three more linemen. It's literally the only way they CAN win at this point.

It's too early to tell, but I think I'm detecting a bit of a return to running in general this season, teams seem to be emphasizing it more now for whatever reason.

The 49ers and Lions did last night. I was surprised at how many run plays they were running.

Of course the Lions had no option but to run due to the 49ers shutting Megatron down by essentially triple covering him with a CB and both S's.

Everything is cyclical.

Offenses get quick and stretch the field, defenses get lighter and faster to keep up. Doesn't take a genius to see that a power rush attack could be successful against a D built to stop the pass. You could argue that Parcells/Sparano/Ireland were justified to build the team that way.

The rules however still favor passing, and with the concerns about concussions and other injuries I don't see that changing any time soon. And Miami is a perfect example of why being good at rushing the ball doesn't translate into winning big. Sooner or later the team will fall behind or run up against an unstoppable rush defense, and if you can't throw the ball you're toast.

I think there's more running now because the replacement officials can't figure out what illegal contact and defensive holding are.

Notice how the Fins' win probability steadily increases throughout the second half and the game's no longer in doubt with over half the 4th quarter left to go, just beautiful :D :D :D

So I looked at Naanee states and he has been targeted only three or four times out of two games. How a player that does so well in camp and practice not do nothing during the games.

I say Miller should be in and Thomas the fumbler should be out the rest of the season barring injury.

Absolutely agree. Thomas is an injury-prone fumbler who plays much smaller than his size. Miller is a big play waiting to happen every time he touches the ball. No comparison.

Lane can be the 'big back' when we need one in short yardage and goalline situations. Thomas sucks in that role anyway.
