I say there's a huge difference between a #1 receiver and what we have now. We are playing a #2 as our number one and a three as our two. When Hartline was on the field with Marshall he was clearly the #2. He's the number one by need now. Miami still needs the game changing big prototypical #1. The player that demands double coverage. The guy that can snag the ball out of the air when it's up for grab. Hartline is catching a lot of come back routes that are being thrown with perfect timing. A number one breaks those plays for big gainers.

You're right Hartline is not a #1 WR in the traditional sense. Not a Physically dominating TD machine. But look the definition of a #1 is changing. The way Pats and others are changing football puts less emphasis on the number one. Teams want to be "multiple" on both sides of the ball. They want every WR to have the capacity to play every position at any time. They want TE to have WR skills and block some. Hartline doesn't score TD but he can do anything else and he and Bess are must haves for the WCO. Our "#1 " of the future will be a lot more like Hartline and a lot less like Brandon Marshall. Don't be disappointed though, it will work just as well if not better.

Tannehill is the first rookie in NFL history to pass for 1,250-plus yards and record at least two wins in his team’s first five games.

Who does Omar think he is, me? It's obvious Armando's not the only media member reading this site :thinkinghard: But yes, the wins are what's important here.

Tannehill has been sacked 10 times in five games. Only 16 quarterbacks have been sacked more this season.

Um, okay...so he's been sacked right at the league average rate, good to know  Omar's new at this though, he needs to work out the kinks :)

He's thrown 19 passes of 20 or more yards. Only five QBs have thrown more this season.

Tanny does like to throw deep. I noticed at least 3 times against the Bengals where he threw deep when he had someone open underneath. And let's not revisit the Jets game shall we?

Tannehill only has two touchdowns on the season. That's the fewest in the NFL thrown by a starting quarterback.

That would be a problem if the offense wasn't scoring, but it is. HOW the offense scores is largely up to what Sherman calls in the red zone. If the Fins get a TD what do I care how it's done?

Disagree - I don't think we're scoring nearly enough. We've only gotten more than 2 TDs in 1 of the last 3 games (loss to the Cards). That's not good enough. This team needs to score more TDs, and the way to do that is in the passing game. Tannehill did a nice job as a game manager against the Bengals, but sooner or later he's going to have to step up and start throwing TDs. 2 TD passes in 5 games just doesn't cut it.

Part of red zone production woes has to do with not having that No. 1 guy who can body out or out jump (on the fade) the press coverage you get down there. It draws attention as well, freeing up the underneath guys as well as creating mismatches for slants, drags, and crossing/rub/pick plays.

This is also where a stud tight end is extremely helpful.

Right now they're at 20.6 points a game, which is worlds above what I thought they'd be after preseason and the Texans game, so I'm satisfied. There have been several Fins teams who've scored less.

BTW Tannehill has now passed Sanchez in passer rating :D Gabbert and Hasselbeck, you're next!!!

You're satisfied with 20 points a game?

Not me...I have higher standards, even for this Dolphins team. I like the way Tannehill is developing, but I can't be happy if the team's not scoring.

With a rookie QB everyone besides me wanted to rot on the bench and "learn" all season, no third WR to speak of, and an average TE...hell yes I'm satisfied!!!

What did you expect at this point, 30 per game??? :-o

Hell they can win every game from now on 3-2 for all I care.

It's not about expectations - it's about not getting overly excited by beating two mediocre teams and losing to two mediocre teams.

Seems like most Dolfans went from saying "we suck" to feeling like we're champions overnight. Fact is, we're 2-3 and are still struggling to score points and win games. While I like what Philbin has done (for the most part) and I like the way Tannehill is developing (for the most part), I won't be satisfied until this team is a legitimate contender. And in my eyes, they're a long way from that. Now if they were to beat a team like the 49ers or Patriots...that might get me excited. But this team has let me down too many times...I'm not about to go overboard after beating an overrated Bengals team.
