Another good job and I agree.

At this point I want to see rookies and young guys given a chance to shine or to at least show what they can or can't do.

It just befuddles me as to why the coaching staff isn't doing this.

Yep, definitely time for a youth movement.

I like the idea of using Odrick inside to see if he can be a replacement for Starks.

I think odpick would be better inside than he is on the edge. Bulk him up 25lbs and see what he can do. He surely is not setting the world on fire as a pass rusher from the edge.

Odrick definitely would be better inside in the 4-3. He's not an edge rusher, doesn't have the speed or technique.

The entire team starting from the top down needs a complete overhaul. How's that for an evaluation? :veryangry:

Tannehill- D- Can't miss wide open receivers but does. Where's the scrambling ability?

Bush- D- hasn't been producing since the injury

Offensive line F. Five years and we got shit

Receivers D- zero separation. Zero red zone production

Defense C. Line is ok with a B average but fades in critical times. Backfield F. Needs play makers.

Special teams B- punting is the strength of the team. Special teams coach deserves coach of the year award. He's got a group that has been the best of the game day players. With the way Ireland picks this coach deserves a reward

Nice article, FFM.

Coaching staffs tend to get tunnel vision and think only in the short term. They base decisions about playing time on who practices better. And while a journeyman/vet may be outplaying a rookie, the development of the rookie SHOULD be the paramount concern if the possibility pf the playoffs has been removed.

I can remember one of the stupidest comments I have ever heard came from Dumbstedts Oline coach in Vernon Careys rookie year; when asked why Vernon Carey was not getting the start at RT since the Phins were obviously not going to make the playoffs, the Oline coach said it would not be FAIR to John St Clair to start the rookie ahead of him.

This dumbarsed Oline coach put fairness to a journeyman/olineman who was in no way shape or form part of the Phins future...ahead of the best long term interest of the Phins. Developing a 1st round pick should be THE focus of the coaching staff and instead, Carey missed valuable developmental playing time so this dumbarsed Oline coach could feel good about himself for being "fair" to some journeyman player!

These are the sort of things a strong HC who looks to the future needs to implement. If the season is going to end short of the playoffs, start working on next season as soon as possible.
