I think Jones is a good example of how quickly a receiver can develop at the next level. It's rare that it happens as quickly as it did for him, but he was definitely not a polished route runner in college.

I guess we'll see exactly how fast Patterson is at the Combine, but I think he's really going to open some eyes there.

I'll guess a 4.39 with Tavon Austin running a 4.31

Just a guess. Austin gets to top speed so fast. I wouldn't be surprised to see him run less then 4.3

Isn't 4.39 what Julio ran? I think I saw it on that bastion of always correct football stats Wikipedia.

If you look at a players NFL player card it has five or six links on there. One is scouting and another has a link to the combine if they participated. It will show the official combine time.

Thanks for the assist. His broad jump was monstrous! Who says the combine can't tell you a few things about a player.

No problem. The Falcons targeted a player that they thought would be spectacular and they made it happen. I wish we had a GM that would take a risk like that.

FWIW - Patterson supposedly ran a 4.34 40 at Tennessee.

I've been watching more highlights, and his route running is probably a bit better than he gets credit for, especially on outside patterns. He does look a little sloppy inside.

One thing that really stands out is his body control. He does a good job of shielding defenders, and he'll go up for the ball. The catch he made against Alabama safety Robert Lester is a great example of what I'm talking about. That's an NFL catch right there.

I'm convinced...he's my pick at 12 - if he lasts that long.

He does remind me a bit of Julio with his size and athleticism. Not as polished though. Hands not as good.

Not sure, but it's probably a bit better than Hartline's.
